A visit to an orphanage\A trip to another world

Steve and Tim making new friends

There is an ordinary two-stored building on the outskirts of Annenskoe village.  You can not tell that unusual kids live there.  They have serious faces and sad look. These kids are orphans and the building is the orphanage house.

The representatives of KBR and Central after School Activity Center (CASAC) visited the orphanage on the 19th of March.  They wanted to make a little celebration for the kids.  The weather was fine and everybody was in wonderful spirits.  At the orphanage we were met and brought to the assembly hall. While the members from CASAC were preparing for the concert we had chance to talk to the kids there.  They told us that there are 5 so –called families there where all the kids live. Each family has 10 or 12 children.  It has a living room, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. Every family decorates their rooms in their own way. The kids can knit, make little toys from the clay.  They are also fond of sports and computers. Many girls like to sing and dance.  Some of them want to raise animals such as ducks, geese, and cows.  The boys like to go to a movie theater and visit exhibitions.

Now they help the adults to finish the construction of their banya.  The kids could tell us a lot about themselves but it was the time to watch the show.  The group of kids from CASAC performed dances, sang songs, entertained the little kids from the orphanage.  The concert was very entertaining for the kids; they were watching and listening with great attention.  They were smiling and the look on their faces was not serious anymore.

When the concert was over, Steve LeMelle and Timothy Trujillo rose to speak.  They told kids that they had been in their orphanage before and decide to come there again to help the orphanage. Tim and Steve brought fruits, juices, vegetables, cookies and sweet   milk with them, the kids burst out applauding when they heard that because all children like sweets.

Later on I asked Steve about his impression on the visit.  He said that he really liked it.  “These kids are orphans but it is not by their choice and we must help them”-he added. Timothy said that they wanted to bring the donations for the kids to show that KBR cares about them and that he wanted to visit more often.  He also said that these kids are the usual kids and deserved everything other kids have.

That was our visit to the orphanage.
